What to do |
How to do
it |
1 |
Manage issues throughout the Execute and Control Stage of the project |
Perform the following activities as defined in the Issue Management Plan:
- Assign a priority to identified issues and record them in the issue log
- Determine how issues are to be resolved and assign them for resolution
- Escalate issues as required by escalation rules
- Monitor issue resolution status
- Report status of issue management activities in regular project status reports
- Provide other communications as appropriate
|
2 |
Monitor issue management processes for effectiveness |
Periodically evaluate the frequency of issue status meetings and whether issues are being resolved effectively and expeditiously. Consider the following questions:
- What kinds of issues are not being resolved effectively such that a change in escalation rules is called for?
- Are resolutions less effective in some areas than others, suggesting that outside expertise may be called for?
- Are the right people involved in difficult decisions?
|
3 |
Take corrective action as needed |
If answers to any of these questions suggest a significant action, consult with key stakeholders and the project sponsor, document decisions, and take corrective action as noted. |
